  • Everyday workers scale billboards across the U.S. to replace advertisements and perform maintenance.  This thought spurred the need to train on elevated worker emergencies on these structures.  Rescue crews practiced removing an injured worker from the structure multiple ways.

  • Members of CFD along with Jeff Jolley of Jolley's Towing and Recovery attended the first annual Big Lift "U" in Sanford, NC.

  • Members from the Cowpens, Converse, and Goucher Fire Departments gathered for a weekend class hosted by the Cowpens Fire Department.  Trey Smith of Rescue NC, led the course which focused on the lost person incident.  Students learned how to manage, plan, and execute a search for a lost person.  The course also taught basic land navigation skills and had practical evolutions which developed these skills further.  The last day saw a live exercise in which a real victim was used and crews completed a "hasty search" of the Town of Cowpens.  The subject was located and treated for a simulated diabetic condition which attributed to the missing person condition.
